City of Tybee seeks ethics committee members

Posted: Updated:
TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) -

The city of Tybee Island is seeking candidates to serve on the Ethics Committee.

City Manager Diane Schleicher said only two people are on the committee that requires seven people. She says right now the committee cannot form a quorum to vote.

The mayor says several of the commissioners' terms expired and they've been looking for new ones over the last couple of months.

The point of the Ethics Commission is to review any complaints that have been filed about city officials but the mayor says right now they don't have enough people to hold a meeting if a complaint were filed.

"There haven't been complaints that had been filed in a while so I think that's why this commission sort of dwindled down in size so yeah it's been advertised for a while on our website now," said Mayor Jason Buelterman.

Those who want to serve on the Ethics Committee must be a Tybee Island resident and be registered to vote in city elections.
