Man found dead on Fort Stewart identified as soldier

The deceased man found on Nov. 30 at Holbrook Pond has been identified as Spc. John Joseph Beans Eubank, a soldier assigned to Fort Stewart.

Eubank, 29, was a motor transport operator in the 396th Transportation Company, 87th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 3rd Sustainment Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division.

His home of record is listed as Mt. Village, Alaska.

Eubank had deployed to Irag three times and to Afghanistan once, returning from Afghanistan in May.

He enlisted in the Army in November 2003 and was arrived at Stewart-Hunter in August of 2004.

Special Agents from the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command and two non-commissioned officers from Spc. Eubank's unit identified the body at 2 p.m. Dec 1 at Winn Army Community Hospital.

Spc. Eubank's body was found in the area of Fort Stweart's Holbrook Pond early in the evening on Nov. 30.

Chaplain and casualty assistance support have been extended to the family during the duration of the investigation.

According to CID officials, the death investigation remains ongoing.
