SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

More than 100 people registered for insurance at an Affordable Care Act (ACA) informational event.

Officials with Connecting Georgians to Coverage say the process now takes less than an hour to get folks registered because officials in Washington have sorted through some of the major kinks that was bogging down the system.

Now, state and local groups are trying to help get as many people registered before December 23rd which is the deadline to enroll if you want to be covered by January 1st.

The Chatham County safety Net Planning Council and Connecting Georgians to Coverage co-hosted an informational session Saturday, bringing in trained navigators who sat down one-on-one with folks.

"Now we are finding that you can get plan information and that you can get all the way through, including pay," said Dale Carlson-Bebout, Exec. Director of Chatham County Safety Net. "That was something we were not seeing in the beginning. So that is happening and people are not getting stuck like they were before."

In case you missed the session, you can contact either J.C. Lewis Health Clinic or Curtis V. Cooper Health Clinic. They both have trained navigators that will help you enroll.
