Services set for Waycross firefighter killed

The city of Waycross is holding a viewing and memorial service for a lieutenant who was killed Sunday in the line of duty.

According to the Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens, the Waycross Fire Dept. responded to a structure fire at about  12:20 a.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of Isabella Street. Lt. Jeff Davis Little, 50, died while working the structure fire. The home had been vacant for several years and no utilities were connected.  

The home was destroyed and has been ruled an arson. The fire is now considered a murder case, according to the Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner. A viewing will be held from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday at Central Baptist Church at 201 Ava St. in Waycross. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the same church. According to a spokesperson for the Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens, The City of Waycross Fire Department responded to a structure fire around 12:20 a.m. on Sunday.

An award of up to $10,000 has been issued in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call 800.282.5804. The Georgia State Fire Marshal, Waycross Police Dept. and Waycross Fire Marshal continue to investigate.
