Bluffton couple charged with unlawful conduct toward a child for filthy living conditions

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -

A Bluffton couple has been detained in the Beaufort County Detention Center after their landlord notified police about their living conditions.

When officers responded to the residence of Benjamin Konchenderfer and Barbara Ann Ownen's Simmonsville Road home Sunday night, they found them living in filthy conditions. Decaying food and feces infested with insects were found on the floor.

Their three children were also living in the home with them, and the couple is now charged with three counts of unlawful conduct toward a child.

Both are being held on $30,000 bond, and the three children have been turned over to their grandmother.
