For the second time in two days, someone broke into the Food Lion grocery store on Victory Drive. But this morning, it was a very different outcome.

Just after 3:30am this morning, the alarm company called police to say someone had set off the roof alarm at the store again. Officers surrounded the building after calling for a ladder from the Savannah Fire Department. Two officers acted as spotters on the roof and saw the suspect as he emerged and tried to run.

Cpl. Amanda McGruder and K-9 Binky chased the suspect as he ran across a small creek behind the store, and seconds later the suspect was in custody and being brought out of the woods.

The suspect, 20-year-old O'ladele Lewis, was bitten on the arms and legs trying to escape from the dog. Police say this is the same man who broke into the store yesterday morning but escaped from them.

Lewis is charged with two counts of burglary, simple battery and obstruction by fleeing. During both break-ins, police say Lewis came out of the store empty handed.
