BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -

The Bluffton Township Fire District welcomed its newest fire truck with a traditional "wet down" ceremony.

Firefighters hosed down Truck 375 Tuesday afternoon in front of their station headquarters.

After that, they symbolically pushed the track back into the bay.

Truck 375 is a 2012 Pierce Manufactured fire truck with a 100-foot platform.

The fire district bought the truck as a demo, saving taxpayers a lot of money.

"This fire apparatus, it's not like what we had 20 years ago," said Capt. Randy Hunter. "The safety features, just driving it, the durability, the way the aerial device itself operates, the bucket, it's really amazing. Anytime you get [something] new, it's like Christmas day."

With the new truck, the district will now retire its 75-foot apparatus.
