ESTILL, SC (WTOC) -

Police are working their leads to find out who murdered Laporsha Brown, a 23-year-old pregnant woman from Estill, SC.

Brown was shot to death Friday night, but her baby girl survived and is in the hospital in Columbia.

Police say they spent most of Tuesday chasing strong leads. They wouldn't specify what those leads are, but say they could be close to cracking this case.

Estill Police Chief Keith Parks said they are doing everything they can to try and catch the person who killed Brown, and bring some sense of closure to her family.

"We believe she did know the person who is responsible for doing this to her," said Parks.

Parks believes this was an isolated incident.

"There's no issues for the community to be on alert about," he said.

The Hampton Co. Sheriff's Department and SLED are assisting with the investigation.

Brown's funeral will be held on Saturday at 12 pm, at the Antioch Christian church in Varnville.
