Memorial Health officials announced Wednesday that it is partnering with Novant Health to establish a freestanding children's hospital in Savannah.
The new facility will be named The Children's Hospital of Savannah.
The $28 million project will be located in the building that houses Memorial's Rehabilitation Institute. The new children's hospital will include all pediatric inpatient units, pediatric intensive care unit, a two-room surgical suite, pediatric ancillary services, a 24-hour emergency department dedicated exclusively to children and an area for family members, according to a Memorial news release.
Memorial Health and Novant Health will share strategic planning and governance duties over the facility. Memorial keep managing operation and provide executive leadership for The Children's Hospital of Savannah.
