Helpers needed for Mysterious Santa Program

Posted: Updated:
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Mysterious Santa Program in Savannah is in need of helpers for Christmas Day.

Volunteers are needed to visit hospital patients and nursing home residents over the holidays. The program began more than 100 years ago at St. Joseph's and has since expanded to include senior citizens.

Children get a stuffed toy and adults get a fruit basket.

Volunteers should arrive at 7 a.m. Dec. 25 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church on Waters Avenue and Columbus. Breakfast is served and then participants then go out with Santa Clause as he makes his rounds for a few hours.

Volunteers are encouraged to bring their older children along to take part in the giving spirit on Christmas.

The program also needs volunteers with SUVs to help deliver items to the hospitals and nursing homes.
