Reward being offered for information in Estill murder case

ESTILL, SC (WTOC) - Authorities are now offering a reward for information that could lead to the arrest of the persons responsible for the murder of a 23-year-old pregnant woman from Estill, SC.

Police are working all leads to find out who murdered Laporsha Brown on Dec. 13.

Brown was found shot to death last Friday around 7:30 p.m. after her vehicle crashed into a house on Martin Luther King Blvd. in Estill.

Doctors were able to perform a C-section on Brown, saving her baby girl.

Police say they have been chasing strong leads but wouldn't specify what those leads are.

Estill Police Chief Keith Parks said they are doing everything they can to try and catch the person who killed Brown, and bring some sense of closure to her family.

"We believe she did know the person who is responsible for doing this to her," said Parks.

Parks believes this was an isolated incident.

"There are no issues for the community to be on alert about," he said.

The Estill Police Department, in a joint investigation with the Hampton Co. Sheriff's Department and SLED, are now offering a $1000 reward to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the persons responsible in the case.

Brown's funeral will be held on Saturday at 12 p.m., at the Antioch Christian Church in Varnville, SC.
