Coppa Claus visits children at Candler Hospital

Posted: Updated:

Children in the hospital for Christmas are still getting the chance to enjoy the holiday.

Coppa Claus visited the Children's Place pediatric unit at Candler Hospital Friday.

Every year Todd Rhodes, a former Metro Police Officer, and current Brunswick officer, hands out toys to boys and girls who are at the hospital.

"Coppa Claus is just unique," said Melanie Howard, clinical nurse manager at Candler Hospital. "He's not only unique with his blue uniform, but he just has a great personality. He interacts with the kids very well, and they just love him. They are very excited to have someone as generous as he is, someone who's just so nice and so sweet and hilarious. He's very funny. They all think he's funny."

Rhodes has been playing Coppa Claus for years now, raising money and donations to help sick and disadvantaged children during Christmas, wearing the special blue suit made for him by his wife.
