Fashion accessory helping women with hot flashes

It's a problem women in their 40's and 50's just don't like to talk about.

Hot flashes and mood swings aren't exactly hot topics at the dinner table.

But now, there's an all new way to find relief and look fashionable at the same time.

Connie Sherman is the founder and inventor of Hot Girls Pearls.

"There was nothing on the market I'd possibly stand. So I thought -you know what - I'm going to wear ice cubes around my neck," said Sherman. "Basically, that is what I invented."

Hot Girls Pearls is a unique product that's part fashion accessory, part medical necessity for women going through menopause.

Marilyn Schneider said it's a real problem that impacts every aspect of your life.

"My husband said I keep the bedroom so cold you could hang meat in our room," said Schneider. "I have to have it freezing cold or I don't sleep."

Each pearl is filled with the same gel that goes into an ice pack or baby's teething ring.

You simply store one necklace or bracelet in the freezer, then take it out when you're ready to wear it.

"I wanted something women could wear that nobody had to know that they were doing something good for themselves," said Sherman. "They could still feel fun, fashionable and functional."

Sherman said the pearls will stay cold for about 45 minutes to an hour, then all you do is simply throw them back in the freezer or a trendy ice pack purse.

Hot Girls Pearls range in price from $34 to $85 and are sold online and in stores across the country.
