Long lines at UPS office frustrates customers

Savannah -

While many last minute shoppers in Savannah enjoyed short lines this Christmas Eve, folks picking up packages from UPS on Dean Forest Road weren't so lucky.

Some of them, like Tyrek Burnett, were standing in line for nearly four hours.

Burnett said he was told his packaged had arrived around 2pm, but, when he showed up to pick it up at 5p.m., it still hadn't been scanned.

"They said they scanned the truck, but they hadn't scanned by package yet," said Burnett. "I wanted to be mad, but I'm just chilling right now."

He eventually got his package.

Most of the people standing in line were like Burnett, calm and understanding.

"You just had to wait and hope for the best,"  Will Tallevast said, "The tensions were pretty high, but the staff was really good."

Tallevast waited in line for about two hours for his package, which was supposed to be delivered to his house. According to him, it was never dropped off. He's not sure why, but he said he understands that today was a very busy day for UPS.

He's just glad he was able to get his package.

"I this is a Christmas gift," he said. "I needed it."

We tried to talk to the staff at the UPS office, to find out what happened today, but they directed us to their corporate offices in Atlanta, and we're waiting to hear back from the spokesperson.

Most of the people in line got what they were there for, but some did leave empty handed.
