A burglary suspect is in jail after breaking into a house and stealing firearms on Christmas Eve. Shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday night, Effingham County Sheriff's deputies responded to a Goshen Road residence on a burglary call.

"Deputies were on scene within minutes and set up a perimeter around the offender," Sheriff's spokesman David Ehsanipoor said.

Deputies located Anthony Sapp, 29, or Rincon in a wooded area across Jamestown Subdivision.

"Sapp was subdued with a taser as he resisted arrest," Ehsanipoor said.

Sapp was arrested and charged with burglary, theft by taking and obstruction of a law enforecement officer.

He is currently being held in the Effingham County Jail.
