AIKEN, SC (WFXG) -

An Aiken woman accused of shoplifting died in a wreck on Christmas Eve while she was trying to flee from officers, according to the Aiken County Coroner's Office.

Lucinda Randolph, 31, was leaving Walmart on Whiskey Road in Aiken Tuesday at a high speed, Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said. She was accused of shoplifting and fleeing from Aiken Department of Public Safety officers.

Randolph, who was driving a 2004 Pontiac and had a child in the car, struck another vehicle head-on, Carlton said. Two other vehicles were also involved in the crash.

Randolph was pronounced dead at Aiken Regional Medical Center at about 1 p.m. Tuesday, Carlton said. Several other victims were transported to local hospitals. Their conditions are unknown.

The S.C. Highway Patrol and the coroner's office are investigating the crash.

An autopsy for Randolph is scheduled for Thursday in Newberry.
