The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating a robbery that occurred Thursday morning at the Metropolitan Hotel on Hilton Head Island.

At approximately 6:15 a.m. an unknown black male suspect entered the employee's office and told the clerk he had a gun and to give him all the money. The suspect did not show the victim a weapon, but the victim observed a bulge in the right cargo pocket of his pants, which she believed to be a gun, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

The victim gave the suspect a small sum of money from the cash register. The suspect also took a silver ACER laptop that belongs to the hotel, valued at $600, and ran out the door of the hotel.

The Sheriff's Office established a perimeter along Pope Avenue, Cordillo Parkway and South Forest Beach Drive. K-9 units were also utilized, but unsuccessful to track the criminal.

The robbery is under investigation by the South Investigations Section of the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
