HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Law enforcement officials are looking for a suspected car thief after a chase through Huntsville.

The chase happened around 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Plummer Road and Jordan Lane after an attempted traffic stop.

State troopers said they began following a Honda after the drive ran a red light. The driver took off, and the troopers chased after the car. At one point, the man in the stolen vehicle crashed into another car at the intersection of Stringfield and Highway 53.

Troopers said the car wrecked and was abandoned on Greenbriar Street while the driver fled on foot.

Huntsville police brought tracking dogs to help search for the driver. Huntsville police said the car had been reported stolen.
