SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

There is never a wrong time for homeowners or businesses to look at their property and recognize the potential hazard among the trees, whether it's hurricane season, tornadoes or unexpected early winter storms.

The International Society of Aboriculture (ISA) says spotting issues and correcting them before a storm not only increases safety on your property, but it also helps improve the health of your trees.

The ISA has released five tips to prepare trees for any potentially damaging weather.

-Survey property for trees showing signs of instability.

-Take action to remedy potential hazards.

-Prevent damage by being proactive.

-Document tree value.

-Hire an ISA Certified Arborist.
