(WMC-TV) –Two suspects believed to be involved in a fatal hit-and-run have been arrested by Southaven police. The suspects have been identified as 29-year-old William Hancock and 35-year-old Noel Wilborne, both are awaiting extradition to Memphis.
The fatal hit-and-run accident happened early Saturday morning on I-55 near Shelby Drive.
Police say a 69-year-old man pulled over on the interstate's emergency lane to pick up something he dropped out of his window; that is when another car struck him. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
His wife told police he dropped his cell phone out of the window.
Witnesses followed the hit-and-run car to Millbranch and Stateline roads in Southaven, Mississippi.
The Memphis Police Department have issued warrants for Hancock and Wilborne for Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving Injury/Death.
