The United Way of the Coastal Empire is getting closer every day to reaching its annual goal. This morning, they held their mid-campaign rally in Savannah's Monterey Square.
The organization is trying to raise $7 million. So far they've raised a little more than $3.2 million. That's about 46 percent of the goal.
Campaign leaders say they are confident they will be able to raise the rest of the money over the next five weeks. Chairman Dave Hailey asked people to "reach into their hearts, reach into their wallets and hopefully both can support contributions to make the community a better place."
The United Way benefits more than 40 organizations in Chatham, Bryan, Effingham and Liberty Counties.
