As we escape a year of disenchantment and bewilderment, in a republic grown more socialist, than democratic, it's a good time to consider the following ageless-wisdom from some of America's most prominent:
"Government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem - Ronald Reagan. "The Constitution isn't an instrument for the government to restrain the people. It's an instrument for the people to restrain the government, lest it come to dominate our lives and interests – Patrick Henry. "A free people ought to be armed and disciplined… to maintain the status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse it, which would include their own government – George Washington. "The world is a dangerous place to live, not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who won't do anything about it – Albert Einstein. "It's only the warlike power of a civilized people that can give peace to the world – Teddy Roosevelt. "Let everyman know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and the success of liberty – John F. Kennedy. "Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, and this be our motto: In God is our trust – Frances Scott Key.
As we look to the future, first and foremost, then, may Almighty God grant us the continued, decisive, defensive power required to deter those who would challenge our freedom and independence. And as you and your family emerge from this year-past, may you look forward to a far better, less intrusive 2014, with years even-more fulfilling and free, well-beyond.
