SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

All lanes are back open on Interstate 95 after two late night wrecks.

Two separate wrecks happened just before 10 p.m. Thursday night. Police say the first accident just south of I-16 on I-95 northbound near mile marker 99, caused a second wreck shortly before 10 p.m.

"When the first police officer arrived on the scene, a second accident was actually occurring also," said Pooler Fire Chief Wade Simmons. "So we actually had two accidents 100 yards apart involving 4 vehicles."

Three people were taken to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment. Two of the three people were reportedly transported with serious injuries, but they did not seem to be life-threatening, according to Simmons.

Two of the three northbound lanes were closed for hours while crews worked to clear the wreckage. All lanes have reopened and an investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
