Police: Savannah man charged with shooting at car

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A Savannah man is charged with three felonies in connection with shooting at people in a car on Dec. 25 in east Savannah.

Devonte Shyheem Green, 19, has been charged with aggravated assault, theft by receiving stolen property and criminal use of an article with altered ID.

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police said patrol officers with the Downtown Precinct responded to a report of someone in a car shooting at another parked car at 7:47 p.m. near the gas pumps at the 3G convenience store on the 700 block of Wheaton Street.

Detectives determined Green and a female were parked near the gas pumps when a black 2006 Saturn Ion with several people inside drove up and the female driver went into the store. Police said Green then fired several gunshots into the Saturn on the passenger's side can took off in a tan Toyota.

The Toyota was a short time later on East Gwinnet Street just east of Waters Avenue. That's where police had responded to another call of shots fired that same night of Dec. 25.

Police said Green was identified as the shooter and a search of his residence resulted in the seizure of two semi-automatic pistols. One had been reported stolen and on which the serial number had been partially altered.

Downtown Precinct detectives continue to investigate.
