SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The city of Savannah is holding its annual Bring One for the Chipper recycling event.

Residents can bring their old Christmas tree to be ground into mulch to be used for park and neighborhood beautification projects throughout Savannah.

Bring One for the Chipper will take place Saturday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Home Depots in Savannah and Pooler, as well as the Dean Forest Landfill and the Bacon Park Transfer Station.

In the Lowcountry, Beaufort County residents looking to recycle their Christmas tree can take it to any county convenience center yard waste bin during normal center hours until Jan. 11 for the Grinding of the Greens event. The trees will be converted to boiler fuel for energy generation, so please remember to remove all ornaments, lights and other decorations from your trees prior to recycling them.
