Woman arrested in connection to Bulloch County inmate escape attempt

BULLOCH CO., GA (WTOC) -

U.S. Marchals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Taziha Burnette, 22, of Jonesboro, GA on Jan. 2.

Burnette was arrested in Clayton County on charges connected with the Christmas Day escape attempt by Tahjz Irving from the Bulloch County Jail.

Burnette was identified by Sheriff's investigators as the individual who cut the fence of the jail and damaged a window in Irving's cell during the escape attempt.

She was booked into the Bulloch County Jail and charged with assisting a person in custody to escape, crossing guard lines with prohibited items, first degree criminal damage to property, interference with government property and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.

She is being held without bond pending further judicial action.

Irving has remained at the Bulloch County Jail and is being charged with first degree criminal damage to property, making false statements and writings, crossing guard lines with prohibited items and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.

He also still faces his original charges, which include kidnapping and robbery investigated by the Georgia Southern University Police.
