POOLER, GA (WTOC) -

A long journey for a Purple Heart will make a home at the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force in Pooler.

Zachariah Fike with Purple Hearts Reunited will be giving the museum a Purple Heart belonging to 2nd Lt. Glenn Morris who died during World War II.

Morris was a Bombardier of a B-24 Bomber called "The Brand." He was with the 466th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force. His Purple Heart was given to his parents after his death and eventually passed onto his only brother. When his brother was older and about to go, he passed the Medal onto a family friend, who did the same at an older age, by tunring it over to the Military Order of Purple Heart. There are no direct living descendants of the family. On 22 March 1944, 2Lt. Morris was killed.

The medal will be presented on Jan. 9, at 10 a.m. to the museum located at 175 Bourne Ave., Pooler, GA.
