Naval Aviators Deploy for Pacific

Many of our friends and neighbors in the military are deployed overseas. Today in Beaufort, South Carolina, more sailors left for the Pacific Ocean.

Pilots with Navy Strike Fighter Squadron 82 left Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort today. They're on a four-month deployment aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln to the Pacific Ocean. This deployment comes just two months after the Navy announced the squadron will dissolve within the next year and a half.

Despite an unclear future, the Marauders say they're just doing what they're called to do. "We kind of look at the disestablishment as a completely separate issue," said Lt. Cmdr. Pete Catalano. "We have to do that to focus on the cruise coming up. When we get back, we'll worry about what's in our immediate future after that."

The remaining 200 sailors within the squadron will deploy next week.
