Beheaded chickens, goat concerns Tybee residents

TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) -

Some Tybee Island residents are concerned after finding several decapitated chickens and a goat lying on the beach.

"It makes me a little concerned about what may be going on around here," said John McGraph after seeing a beheaded chicken Monday morning. "That's really bizarre. There's a whole chicken here. The head is cut off, and the body is right here."

A WTOC viewer sent in pictures of the dead animals after she came across serveral while walking on the beach with her grandaughter.

"That would be very frightening for a little child to see that. Their idea of a little chicken running around is something  cute and lovable," McGraph.

Tybee City officials say they want to get to the bottom of it.

"It's a strange situation," said Tybee Island Mayor Jason Buelterman. "But it's something that we're taking seriously. We also recognize that it is a public beach. Unfortunately, sometimes some odd things happen on a public beach, just as they would at a public park or public area. But we're certainly taking it seriously and checking it out and trying to find out who is behind it."

The Tybee Police Department is looking into the incident and asks you to keep an eye out for any suspicious activity.
