Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. announced Tuesday plans to build a distribution center to enable faster deliveries of parts and materials to customers.
The Product Support Distribution Center will be built at the NorthPort Industrial Park near Interstate 95 and Ga. Hwy 21 interchange.
The Savannah Economic Development Authority helped Gulfstream select the facility's location.
There will be estimated 338,100 square feet of production/storage area for aircraft parts and materials and approximately 67,800 square feet of office space, according to a company news release. More than 300 employees will work at the facility.
The building is expected to be finished in early 2015.
Zimmerman, the vice president of product support materials for Gulfstream, says
this new distribution center will help increase efficiency.
these people have to work hand in hand all day long. They're constantly talking
to each other as issues come up they're working to resolve those, so having
those people close to each other means we can do it faster than we can do it
