The third largest high school in the state of Georgia is now proudly located on Altama Avenue in Brunswick.
While it was bit of challenge for the 180 teachers and more than 1700 students to make the move mid-year to the brand-new facility, everyone said it was worth the extra effort.
The new Brunswick High School has more space, more technology, and finally an auditorium. Some of that technology is the 257 security cameras around the campus.
Prinicipal Toriano Gilbert shared the overall feeling: "It is amazing, we are again excited and very appreciative to the City and Glynn Gounty for building such a fine facility."
Glynn Couny residents paid for this through a special purpose local option sales tax. The return on the $57 million facility and 18 months of labor will be a lifetime of education.
"Both high schools, Glynn Academy and Brunswick High, are doing well, our graduation rates are up, so Glynn County is on the move," Gilbert said.
The basketball team gets to show off their moves as they break in the new gym Friday night against Valdosta.
And the school couldn't leave behind the anchor. The first graduating class from 1970 donated it. However, make no mistake, the class of 2014 are elated to start their own traditions and be the first to graduate in the new building.
