JASPER CO., SC (WTOC) -

It's been a busy start to the new year for Jasper County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies are investigating several break-ins, with the most recent one at Handy Dan's on Cotton Hill Road.

According to the police report, the suspects drove a truck straight through the building early Sunday morning.

"I heard a loud noise sounding like a cannon going off," said one witness, who did not want to be identified.

He said he saw everything. According to him, the suspects were in a white truck, and they rammed the building three times until the wall finally crashed down.

"I called 911," he said. "At that time two suspects jumped out of the pickup truck and into the window of the building. Within 10 seconds the ATM machine was coming out of the window. They threw it in the back of the truck."

Then they drove off, according to him. Officials say they caused thousands of dollars worth of damage.

Officials said the ATM did have cash in it, but wouldn't say how much.

The witness was shocked at how fast the thieves worked.
