A jury has been selected in the case of a Rincon woman charged with concealing a murder.

Kimberly Moretz is charged with helping conceal the death of 35-year-old Charlie Ray. The trial is scheduled to begin Feb. 6.

Ray's dismembered body was discovered in Moretz' Rincon home in January 2013 and in a Jasper County storage unit that she rented.

Investigators say Moretz husband Chad Moretz killed Ray on Jan. 1 or 2, 2013. Several days after the murder, Chad Moretz was in a standoff at his home where deputies shot and killed him.

Moretz was interviewed three times by Effingham County Sheriff's Office detectives - once at the hospital right after the standoff - because she was injured. A second interview was conducted when she was released from the hospital.

She was not under arrest in either of those interviews and was treated as a witness. The third was conducted after she was taken into custody.

The prosecution argues that Moretz was coherent, talkative and in no way was forced or bribed to make statements.

The defense argues those interviews should be thrown out because she was in no state to make those.
