West Florida shot 63 percent from the floor in the second half and out-rebounded North Alabama 54-32 to pick up a 77-75 road victory Saturday afternoon in Gulf South Conference men's basketball action. The loss leaves UNA with a 9-5 overall record and 3-3 mark in GSC play.

The Argonauts pulled down 17 offensive rebounds and scored 15 points off of putbacks. For the game, the visitors scored 40 points in the paint and had two players eclipse 20 points. With the win, UWF improves to 3-9 overall and 2-4 in league action.

On Saturday, UNA had no answer for the duo of Terrence Townes and Nate Johnson. The two combined for 42 points.

After rallying to tie the game at 35-35 at the half, the Lions could never take the lead over the final 20 minutes of play. The Argonauts scored the first six points of the second half and UNA would get no closer than two the rest of the game.

The Lions had a shot in the final minute of play. Following a basket by Jere Vucica that made the score 74-72 with 32 seconds remaining, UNA got a turnover on the ensuing Argonaut possession. After two misses from close range by Vucica, Rashaun Claiborne grabbed an offensive rebound and drew a foul with five seconds left.

The senior, however, missed the front end of a one-and-one. West Florida got a free throw, an offensive rebound and two more foul shots at the other end, leaving Nathan Spehr's three-pointer at the buzzer to account for the final score.

Claiborne finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead UNA Spehr, Vucica and Calvin Dade added 12 points each for the Lions.

UNA will hit the road for its next to GSC games. The Lions will play at Delta State next Thursday with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. The following Saturday, UNA will play at Christian Brothers.
