LONGS, SC (WMBF) – A 20-year-old Little River man has been
charged with felony DUI in connection with a serious crash in the early morning
of Sunday, January 12 in Longs that claimed the life of a young woman.
According to the South
Carolina Highway Patrol, a 1999 Toyota was going east on Highway 90 around 6:15
a.m. when it crossed into the westbound lane, and hit the driver of a 2013
Chevy Cruz head on.
The driver of the Chevy Cruz
was pronounced dead at the scene. According to Horry County Deputy Coroner
Tamara Willard, the driver was 27-year-old Crystal Grizzard
from Little River.
Austin Brady Cedar, 20, was
arrested on Wednesday, January 15 and charged with felony driving under the
influence, death results. Immediately after the crash, Cedar was taken to a
nearby hospital for injuries sustained from the accident, and was arrested
after he was released from the hospital, said Cpl. Sonny Collins with SCHP.
According to jail records, Cedar
is currently being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.
Both drivers were wearing seat
belts. This accident remains under investigation by the SCHP.
