One hospitalized after shooting on Savannah's southside

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are investigating a shooting on Savannah's Southside that happened on Sunday afternoon.

The shooting occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Forest Ridge Drive, off Middle Ground Road.

Police said a woman was shot after two males knocked on her door at the 100 block of Forest Ridge Drive. 

One male has been detained and the other one is still at large.

"We don't know who had the gun or who didn't have the gun," said Metro Police Spokesperson Julian Miller. "We don't know if the man who we have in custody is one of the men. They've just been detained. So, a lot of questions now rather than answers."

The woman has been transferred to Memorial University Medical Center. Initial reports indicate her injuries to be non-life threatening.

"This is a nice neighborhood, and I never would expect this kind of commotiojn going on around here," said Kenneth Roberts.

Roberts lives just around the corner from where the shooting happened. Said he's been there for over four years, and never had any issues.

Police haven't identified the victem, but Roberts' said he knew her, and she didn't deserve this.

"the lady is a nice person," he said.

Even though they're not calling the man they're looking for a suspect, police do consider him armed and dangerous.

Roberts and his neighbors said they'll be sleeping with one eye open until police get find the other man.

"I'm quite sure they gonna cathc the person who did it," said Roberts.
