UNION, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said a Union woman who wanted to bring a dog inside became so upset that she threatened to kill the dog, trying to choke it and twist its head.

Union County deputies were called to a home on Blue Ridge Road about a domestic dispute Friday where they found a brother and sister arguing about whether a dog could come inside the home or not.

According to the deputy's report, the man did not want the dog inside because it was sick, but the woman did. The report said the woman, identified as Betty Gregory, was insistent upon the dog coming inside and became hysterical, crying and screaming about wanting the dog in the house.

That's when Gregory, 50, went and picked up the dog and tried to bring it inside, but officers told her stop, deputies said. Deputies said she refused, pushed her way through them as they tried detain her, but she resisted and would not let go of the dog.

Gregory then said she was going to kill the dog and began to choke the dog and twist its head, according to the report. Deputies along with other family members were able to save the dog from her grasp, the report said.

She was arrested and charged with breach of peace and ill treatment of animals. Deputies said animal control was called to the home to pick up the dog.
