Man charged with running phony charity in court

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A man charged with scamming people out of thousands of dollars through a fake charity pleaded not guilty Monday.

Daniel Alvin made his first appearance in court to hear the charges against him. He was on the CrimeStoppers most wanted list for theft and fraud.

Police say he created a fake charity called Making a Real Change aimed at helping homeless people. Police caught him in New York.

    On Sunday, Georgia Southern announced the firing of head football coach Tyson Summers. The program's interim head coach was introduced to the Eagle Nation on Monday Assistant head coach Chad Lunsford will run the program for the rest of the season.
