Burglary suspects in custody after crash

Posted: Updated:

Two burglary suspects are in custody after a crash on Jasmine Court in Savannah. It all started when police were called to a burglary in progress just after 12 p.m. at a home on Washington Avenue.

Police say they saw a man and a woman leave the house and get into a car. The man, Devone Marquell Osborne, 21, got out and was caught near Norwood Plaza, but the woman, Arlecha Nycole Dickerson, 19, kept driving.

"They started following the car. It took a couple of dangerous turns. They were not chasing the car, just following the car. When it took off, it ended up hitting a curb or something, knocked the wheel out of alignment. As the driver came down Jasmine, she lost control, hit a pole [and] knocked the pole down," said Julian Miller, public affairs administrator with Savannah-Chatham Metro Police.

They arrested Dickerson after the crash. Jasmine Court was closed so utility crews could work to repair the downed pole and lines. Detectives are now trying to figure out if the man and woman are responsible for other burglaries in the area.
