OCEAN ISLE BEACH, NC (WECT) – Danny Hefner announced today he plans to run for the District 8 seat in the North Carolina Senate, opposing incumbent Bill Rabon.

Hefner, who is a retired Marine currently working as a delivery driver, fell short in his first campaign against Rabon in 2012 by 60-40 margin."It is time for Common Sense to be restored to our Legislature," Hefner said in an email news release.  "That is why I am seeking election to this seat again, and I will seek election to this seat until the time that Senator Rabon acts in the best interest of the People, instead of his acting on behalf of his Party's Corporate Interest Mentality."

Hefner also criticizes Rabon and the GOP majority in Raleigh for many other moves, including authoring "a newTax Plan that attacks the Middle Class and Working Poor, by increasing the Sales Tax rates and Electricity Tax Rates, as well as the elimination of the Earned Income Tax Credit," said Hefner's news release.
