BCSO investigating vehicle thefts in Bluffton

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating a series of vehicle thefts that have occurred over the past month in Bluffton.

Two vehicles were stolen in December from the parking of the Powerhouse Gym on Fording Island Road, while another was reported stolen on Tuesday from the nearby Peacock Cabinetry located on Buckingham Plantation Drive.

Each of the thefts occurred after the keys for the vehicles were taken from publically accessible areas inside the respective businesses.

Both vehicles from the Powerhouse Gym were recovered in Savannah. The vehicle from Peacock cabinetry, a white 2011 Ford Explorer, has not been recovered. The Explorer has an SC license plate HKH222.

Investigators believe that all three thefts could be related by a common suspect, an unidentified black male between 18-23, approximately 5'9, 180 pounds. He has reportedly been seen in both businesses prior to the thefts occurring.

Residents and business owners in the Old South/Moss Creek area are advised to be on the lookout for any suspicious persons and to call authorities.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Investigator Cpl. W. Conant at 843.255.3424 or Crimestoppers.
