William Deloach took the stand Wednesday at Shan Cheley's sentencing hearing, where Cheley learned he will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
It's been over a year since Amber Deloach's body was found in the trunk of her burning car. This is first time the Deloach family has spoken publicly, breaking their silence as William Deloach spoke directly to his daughter's killer.
The courtroom was packed, but you could almost hear a pin drop as Mr. Deloach approached the bench to give the court his final words about Amber.
"When Amber was taken from me, a part of me also died that day with her," said Deloach.
Deloach painted a picture of his daughter the way he remembers her.
"She was a bright light, a warm, charismatic, extremely lovable, funny, and deeply caring human being," said Deloach.
Reminding his daughter's killer about the life he took from this world.
"All because of you Shan Cheley," said Deloach.
Throughout the trial, Deloach said Cheley never showed remorse.
"You would repeatedly look at us," said Deloach.
Deloach said Cheley would turn around and smirk at the family. In fact, our cameras caught him doing just that while William Deloach was speaking.
That would be the last time for a man who will spend the rest of his life in prison, unable to hurt the Deloach family any more.
"The bond of love is for all eternity," said Deloach.
The Deloach family said they are trying to stay positive as they begin to move on. They also hoped that other lives are now saved because a killer is locked away.
