WESTMINSTER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Richard Marszalek went missing just before the new year, and now his niece is desperate for information into his disappearance.

Marszalek, 61, was living in a home off West Spearman Road in Westminster when he disappeared. Shortly after he went missing, his niece, Courtney Beasley, went over to the home to check on him. There was no sign of her uncle.

"His shoes were under the table and his vest and his jacket were on the chair ... he don't go anywhere without his vest or his jacket," said Beasley.

She said she and her uncle were very close, talking on the phone multiple times a day. She said he was living with other people.

Bizarrely, the home he was living in burned to the ground just six days after he went missing. Beasley said she suspects foul play, but Oconee County deputies said they have no evidence to support that.

"I'm hoping he's just missing, and I pray to God that he's still alive, but something deep down tells me he's not," said Beasley in tears.

"At this point we're unsure if there was any foul play involved. We are still currently investigating," said Chief Deputy Kevin Davis.

Beasley thinks there is more to the story of his disappearance and she believes close friends may know more than they are sharing.

"If he's out there and he's still alive, I just want him to come home," she said.

If you have any information on Marszalek's whereabouts, call 1-888-CRIME-SC.
