Hunter Army Airfield officials have confirmed that a helicopter made a hard landing late Wednesday night at Hunter Army Airfield.
At 11:24 p.m., a helicopter from 3-160 Special Operations Aviation Regiment sustained a hard landing while conducting routine training. Steve Hart, Hunter Army Airfield's public information officer, said the area has been secured. Emergency personnel responded, left and are back out at the area Thursday morning.
The mission of SOAR is to organize, equip, train, resource and employ Army special operations aviation forces worldwide in support of contingency missions and combatant commanders. Known as Night Stalkers, these soldiers are recognized for their proficiency in nighttime operations.
A Hunter representative said the unit does not belong to HAAF and that they are working to get an initial report that could come later Thursday or Friday.
