Posted: Updated:

A Pooler man who crashed his motorcycle into two vehicles on I-516 Wednesday afternoon has died of his injuries.

Savannah-Chatham Metro officials say Robert McGuinness, 27, died at Memorial University Medical Center where he was transported for treatment after the crash shortly after 3 p.m. just east of the Tremont Road interchange.

Officers of SCMPD's Major Accident Investigation Team said McGuinness's Suzuki motorcycle, a red Pontiac G6 and a blue Dodge Challenger were all traveling east on I-516. The motorcycle, traveling at a high rate of speed, attempted to pass between two cars, sideswiping the Pontiac and then rear-ending the Dodge.

The driver and passenger in the Challenger complained of injuries and were also transported to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

MAIT continues to investigate.
