Man shot outside Bluffton home

Bluffton police are investigating a shooting that occurred Wednesday night in front of a home on Shults Road.

Officers were called at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday on a report of a man who was shot on Geothe Road in Bluffton. Thomas Morris Bush told police he was walking along Shults Road toward Goethe Road when black car pulled up next to him and someone inside started shooting at him.

Bush suffered a gunshot to the lower leg and was taken by EMS to a hospital.

Police said that the shooting actually occurred in front of Bush's home on Shults Road. Police said he was on the porch when a black vehicle, which may have been a Mercedes drove up with its headlights off and someone sitting on the passenger side began firing. Police said evidence indicates gunfire was returned from the porch or frontyard of the home.  

A search inside of the residence for projectiles and other evidence of the shooting led to the discovery of a quantity of suspected cocaine.
