Editorial Salute - 01/16/14

Honors this week.  First over to the Georgia Air Guard's Combat Readiness Training Center in Savannah, where unit-commander, LTC Tom Grabowski, received promotion last week to Full-Colonel.  Now, with 29-years in uniform, Colonel Grabowski is a graduate of Georgia College, later the Air War College, and he also earned a Master's Degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.  Our congratulations, on this significant promotion, to Savannah's CRTC Commander, Colonel Tom Grabowski.

And earlier this week, in a special ceremony at Fort Stewart's Command Headquarters, Army Specialist Raymond Castle received a very special  service-award from USO-World.  While stationed in Afghanistan, Specialist Castle volunteered hundreds of his limited free-time hours to the USO's efforts there to assist deployed military members.  His interest in doing so was the direct-result of a very favorable experience for his family, with local USO volunteers, while waiting at the airport here in Savannah, before flying back to Afghanistan.  He is now one of just four finalists for USO-World Volunteer-Of-The-Year honors.   Our thanks and congratulations to Specialist Raymond Castle, and his family, as well as sincere thanks for the on-going work of Savannah's USO volunteers, on-duty for all deployment and redeployment flights at Hunter, and on-duty, everyday, welcoming and caring for our troops at the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport.  You folks continue to make a significant difference.
