The Historic Savannah Foundation presented a check donation to the Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity Thursday to help with Habitat's latest project, a three bedroom house on W. 42nd street in the historic Cuyler-Brownville neighborhood.
"We had a vacant lot here," said Foundation President Daniel Carey. "And a vacant lot is like a missing tooth in a smile, so the opportunity to build a sensitive, compatible, affordable and sustainable next to some other historic ones is a great way to finish off this block."
The value of the check was $5,000.
The new single family house will be LEED-certified and feature an environmentally friendly design.
