SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A jury found three men guilty of two armed robberies that occurred on May 21, 2013 at and around Forsyth Park.

Devante Tyrell Bynes, 21, was convicted of two counts of armed robbery and harming a police dog. Devon Manuel Tarver, 23, was found guilty of two counts of armed robbery and Josephewa Sonny Ramsey, 28, was convicted of two counts of armed robbery and obstruction, according to a news release from the Chatham County District Attorney's Office.

On May 21, 2013, Det. William Bailey, of the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Dept.'s Robbery Unit, was patrolling around Forsyth Park as part of an operation to deter armed robberies in the area. At about midnight, he saw three men surround another man. Bynes, Tarver and Ramsey ran when they saw Bailey. Bailey ran after them and Ramsey was taken into custody.

A K9 Unit tracked down Tarver and Bynes minutes later hiding on East Park Avenue and they were taken into custody. A K9 was injured in the struggle while Bynes was arrested. An investigation by police determined had items belonging to two men who had been robbed at gunpoint, in separate instances, earlier that evening, according to the district attorney's office.
