Forsyth Farmer's Market is back in action

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Forsyth Farmer's Market is back in action on Saturday after a winter break.

Around 28 vendors participated, despite the chilly weather. The mission of the market is to help small scale farmers and food producers, and to solve food access issues.

"Well, we really think that locally sourced foods tend to be a little bit healthier, a little bit fresher. It also supports small economy and the local producers," said Terri Schell, Coordinator, Forsyth Farmer's Market.

Organizers say the recent "polar vortex" has affected some local crops, so a few regulars will not be in attendance for the first few markets of the season.

If you would like to attend, the market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine, at the south end of Forsyth Park.
